3D scanning

We offer custom 3D scanning. We select the appropriate 3D scanner for a specific object according to the customer's output requirements (surface scanning with or without textures, scanning of external or internal cavities, measurement of deviations, etc.). For scanning, we use high-end optical and laser 3D scanners from ZEISS, GOM and THOR3D. The technology is selected by our experts according to the dimensions of the object, the accuracy and resolution requirements of the resulting 3D model, and whether texture scanning is required.

In addition to bespoke scanning, we also offer customers the sale of high-end 3D scanning products. 3Dees is the exclusive seller of ATTBLIME® professional matting sprays with an excellent price/performance ratio that is currently unrivalled in the market.

Highly accurate scanning

High-precision 3D scanning

With ATOS scanners from GOM, we can scan with an accuracy of 0.01 mm and a data density of 34 points per 1 mm. The scanning output is a 3D model consisting of a curvature-optimized polygonal mesh that can be exported to STL format.

Thanks to unique technologies such as vertical and horizontal projection, Triple Scan function, pixel merging, blue light equalizer or automatic glare detection, the resulting scanned data is highly accurate with minimal noise.

The scanner is mobile and can scan very small to medium-sized parts up to 2 m.

Scanning including colour texture

Scanning including colour texture

We use a Calibry 3D scanner from Thor3D for scanning medium to large parts up to 4 m. The advantage is the automatic scanning of the colour texture of the part surface with the possibility of mapping to a polygonal model.

The scanning output is a 3D colour polygonal model that can be exported to OBJ or STL format. Scanning accuracy is from 0.1 mm which is fully sufficient for most applications with texture requirements.

Dimensional inspection of the part

Dimensional inspection of the part

Comparison of scanned data with the nominal CAD model. We use the GOM Inspect Professional software, which is one of the absolute leaders in inspection software. The most commonly used comparison of 3D data is by means of a colour deviation map or inspection sections. Length or angle dimensions or geometric tolerances of shape and position can also be checked.

The output can be not only a clear PDF report with images, tables or graphs, but also data in Excel or the entire project for the free version of GOM Inspect.

Advanced inspection analysis

Advanced inspection analysis

GOM Inspect Professional software has many tools for advanced inspection. For example, material thickness, design line radius, joints and overlaps in sheet metal parts, minor surface defects by virtual grinding and more can be analyzed. When scanning parts from the same batch, we can monitor the trend of deviations both by color map and individual selected dimensions, the software also calculates statistical quantities such as Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk.

The output can be a clear PDF report, excel data or the whole project for the free version of GOM Inspect.

Reverse engineering and 3D modelling

Reverse engineering and 3D modelling

In reverse engineering, we convert scanned data (polygonal mesh) into a flat 3D model (CAD). A planar model is necessary when the scanned data is to be loaded into a CAD software (geometry modification). We use the ZEISS Reverse Engineering software, which has many tools to quickly model surfaces on a polygonal mesh.

The accuracy of the surface model to the original scan is checked with a color deviation map, and the smoothness of the surfaces is checked with a zebra map.

The output is a 3D model in IGES or STEP format.
